In this project, a 60-pound wedge robot was created from scratch to participate in the annual Robo game competition in Miami Florida, 2014. This particular design was chosen to optimize robot durability and aggressiveness. During the 2-day competition, the robot is expected to fight in around 5-10 matches and experience severe damage from collisions and hostile weapons. Therefore, the robot downtime has to be minimal for the robot to return to competitions on time. As a result, a modular drive chain was selected for the robot. The left and right motors and gearboxes are easy to replace if needed. Besides, the circuits are independent for the left and right motor, providing extra robustness to the robot.
